INTRO SPEECH
Dear colleagues,
It is with great pleasure to give you a warm welcome to the second symposium
“Future Perspectives in Cardiovascular Medicine” organized together with
the Deutsche Herzzentrum der Charité.
Cardiology and cardiovascular medicine in general developed very rapidly
in the last years, and are still very dynamic fields. However, they are also
affected by new emerging problems and of course new challenges.
We will discuss state of the art and future perspectives of cardiovascular
medicine, including prevention and management of coronary disease, novel
developments in treatment of valvular and structural heart disease, heart
failure, arrhythmia and pulmonary disease.
We will however have also two “off topic” lectures on very actual and debated
issues which for sure will stimulate our discussion.
We are pleased and thankful to have an outstanding international faculty to
cover those topics, and be sure that we all will profit from having a broad
comprehensive review of cardiovascular medicine.
We are looking forward to welcoming you at our second international
symposium in the rapidly developing Berlin and the new established
Deutsches Herzzentrum der Charité.
PRESIDENT OF THE MEETING:
Prof. Dr. med. Ulf Landmesser
Chairman, Department of Cardiology,
Angiology and Intensive Care Medicine
