CARDIOLOGY IN PRACTICE: THE VALUE OF CLINICAL CASES FOR APPLY
KNOWLEDGE
Madrid, 21st September 2019 – The importance of cardiologist’s role to prevent and treat stroke. This
relationship was one of main topics of Cardiology in practice - What to know and how to apply
knowledge, that was held on September 20th-21st
, 2019. The Meeting has been Co-organized by Fondazione
Internazionale Menarini Milan (IT), under the auspices of Cardiology Department University Hospital
Ramón y Cajal (Madrid), and Cardiology Department University Hospital Sanitas La Zarzuela (Madrid) and
directed by Prof. Josè L. Zamorano Gomez, Professor of Medicine, University Complutense, Madrid,
with Prof. Bijoy Khandheria, cardiologist from Aurora Health in Milwaukee (USA). Two days to share
expertise and to highlight improvements achieved in Cardiology.
Madrid has hosted for the second year, first time was in 2017, this Cardiology State of the Art meeting,
offering a great scenery for workshops, lectures and arduous clinical cases, presented in different modalities.
«One of the key issues of this event is trying to help the clinical decision making, we had formal lectures but
also clinical cases that implemented lectures. Our mission is to help clinicians and all medical community. –
Prof. Zamorano Gomez and Prof. Khandheria, Co-President of the meeting said - Every edition we are
able to interchange information with cardiologists from all over Europe and South America on new references.
We re-emphasize some of the older management issues and continue to bring knowledge, both from speakers
prospective and from the audience prospective».
A gigantic challenge for all the professionals reunited in Spanish capital to debate about Cardiology and draw
attention to updates on important subjects, as well as reviewing the most recent published clinical guidelines,
such as management of dyslipidaemias, sudden cardiac death and stroke. «It is very important that
a cardiologist know all the risk factors for stroke, because knowing the risk factors will allow them to direct
the treatment and work on prevention of this very debilitating disease» Prof. Khandheria added.
«We need better control of high blood pressure, hypertension and cholesterol and also a healthy lifestyle which
includes exercise and Mediterranean diet» Prof. Khandheria concluded.
